Our team of Nurse Practitioners will discuss your itinerary and all need-to-know travel information, including: vaccination requirements, entry & exit requirements, health alerts, helpful travel health and safety tips, and additional travel insights.
Summit Travel Health offers travel health advice on all international destinations, giving you the peace of mind you need to fully enjoy your trip. As a new or experienced international traveller you should be educated about the environment you’ll be visiting. Ideally, you should schedule your appointment with a Summit Health Travel Medicine Specialist 4-6 weeks prior to your departure date. However, we have many patients who come in with a shorter timeframe, and we always do our best to accommodate.
Our consultations typically last about 30 minutes and include a comprehensive itinerary and specific topics about your journey. Our Travel Medicine Specialists will discuss recommendations (from the CDC, WHO and other sources) and requirements based on your destinations, activities, time of year, altitude and medical history. Our consultation rooms are private and comfortable. Here is the usual flow for an appointment:
Step one in the process is a full itinerary review, where our Nurse Practitioner will walk through your travel plans and review any current health risks or warnings.
Once we have reviewed your itinerary and understood your destination-specific vaccine and medicine needs, our Nurse Practitioner will review your vaccination history and any potential contra-indications.
After our Nurse Practitioner has reviewed your destination itinerary and your vaccination history, she will discuss her specific recommendations for your trip. Our Patients then decide which vaccines recommendations are right for them.
Once the patient has selected which vaccines he or she wishes to get, based on the Nurse Practitioners recommendations, the Patients receives the vaccine(s).
