Medical Care in Chad

The health system in Chad remains in a crisis. Public hospitals only provide first aid care, and you will find it difficult to access medical supplies and medicines. Even basic drugs are prove scarce, both in hospitals and big city pharmacies.

If you plan on making a trip to Chad, you should pack a pharmacy kit with you to anticipate any medical problems that could arise.

If an emergency situation occurs, you can call +235 225 17728, but you should use a private car to travel to the nearest hospital. Most foreigners choose to use private health services such as the International SOS or the Health Center at the French Embassy. If you experience more severe medical issues, you will be medically evacuated to another country.

Do I Need a Visa to Visit Chad?

Prior to travel, make sure you check with your transportation company about any passport requirements. This is important as in some cases their regulations on passport validity may be more strict than those of the destination country.

Both, a visa and a passport are required to enter Chad. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of departure.
