Medical Care in Panama

The national health care system in Panama is of good quality such as the Hospital Nacional. Health services accept credit cards, but not when it’s for doctors’ fees.

If you require medication, ensure to go the Hospital Nacional Pharmacy, which is open 24/7 and well-stocked with pharmaceuticals. Other recommended pharmacies include the San Fernando Pharmacy affiliated with the San Fernando Clinica Hospital and Javillo Pharmacy.

Note that it is impossible to seek aid from an emergency ambulance outside of city centers. If a life-threatening situation arises, air evacuation will be required. Dial 911 in case of an emergency.
