Medical Care in Sao Tome and Principe

The health care system remains precarious in Sao Tome and Principe. Situated between the airport and the city center, the Ayres de Menezes Hospital services acts as the principal health center. Beyond the city, the clinics offered are poorly equipped. The island does not have the means to treat serious illnesses, and therefore medical evacuation will be necessary.

Whilst staying in Sao Tome and Principe does not pose many health risks, access to medication proves difficult. In order to enjoy your holiday, you should bring a medical kit containing cream for insect bites, intestinal antiseptics and sun protection products.
