Turkmenistan Travel Vaccines and Advice
Although its land is characteristically arid, Turkmenistan is typically favoured by tourists attracted to its deserts, beaches and mountain ranges. Its rich history is best discovered through ancient monuments. In larger cities such as the capital, Ashgabat or Köneürgenç, you will make surprising discoveries through the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Regional History of the Mausoleum of II Arslan. Do not miss archaeological treasures or natural sites such as Lake Bakharden. Thanks to its mild climate, the beaches invite you to a day spent lazing around or swimming. Whilst staying in Turkmenistan, treat yourself by sampling some of the local gastronomy. Local specialties include spicy dishes with beef and fresh vegetables.
