Medical Care in Tuvalu

Medical facilities in Tuvalu prove limited, as hospitals are not always well supplied with medicines or materials. If you require hospitalization during your trip, you should use the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Although there are many pharmacies in large cities, the drugs on offer are insufficient. You should remember to bring a medical kit with you to make up for the shortage of pharmaceuticals.

In the event of an emergency, you should call for an ambulance on 911. In the case of serious health problems, you will most likely be evacuated by air to either Guam, New Zealand or Hawaii which offer better care. Be aware that the transportation fees are considerable.
